Editorial Independence & Ownership
JSFBI is committed to maintaining full editorial independence and upholding the integrity of the scholarly publishing process. Editorial decisions at JSFBI are made based on academic merit, relevance to the journal’s aims and scope, originality, and overall quality, without influence from commercial, personal, or political interests.
Editorial Independence
JSFBI’s editorial policies are determined by the Editor-in-Chief supported by the editorial team, who operate independently from the journal’s owners and sponsors. Editorial decisions — including the acceptance, revision, or rejection of manuscripts — are based solely on the scholarly and intellectual quality of submissions. The journal’s ownership and management do not influence or direct editorial outcomes, publication timing, or peer review processes.
The Editor-in-Chief has full authority over editorial content and the timing of publication. In cases where the Editor-in-Chief or a member of the editorial board is an author of a submission, or where a potential conflict of interest arises, the responsibility for the editorial decision is delegated to an appropriate independent member of the Editorial Board to ensure objectivity and transparency.
Ownership and Management
JSFBI is published as an independent scholarly journal. The ownership and administrative structure of the journal support the editorial mission and provide the necessary infrastructure for publication, while respecting and safeguarding editorial autonomy. The publisher’s role is limited to administrative and technical support and does not extend to influencing editorial decisions or peer review outcomes.
Safeguarding Editorial Integrity
To preserve editorial independence and integrity:
- Editorial decisions are made without external interference.
- Peer review is conducted objectively and confidentially.
- Conflicts of interest are disclosed and managed appropriately.
- Ethical concerns are handled in accordance with recognised ethical standards.
JSFBI remains committed to ensuring that editorial independence is preserved at all stages of the publication process to maintain trust in the scholarly record.
